Frequently Asked Questions
What time is worship ? Worship begins at 11am. Please feel free to come earlier to grab a cup of coffee and visit or spend some time in our prayer room. (Pictured right)
How do I get there? We are located at 1174 County Road 328, De Berry, Texas 75639. For directions and map click here.
I have young children. What do you have for them? In addition to age appropriate learning stations during Sunday school, we do provide a nursery for infants and young children during Sunday school and worship. If you would rather your children join you during worship, we encourage you to feel comfortable in doing so. Children are welcome here
Do I have to dress up? No...not unless you want to. At Mt. Zion you will see everything from shorts to suits and lots in between. Our desire is for you to come as you are and know that you will be welcomed.
What do Methodist's believe? John Wesley and the early Methodists were particularly concerned about inviting people to experience God’s grace and to grow in their knowledge and love of God through disciplined Christian living. We invite you to learn more about our rich theological heritage.
Can I take Communion? Yes! All Christians are welcome at our table, whatever their denomination. Holy Communion is a family meal, and all Christians are members of Christ’s family.

People were bringing little children to Jesus to have him touch them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." And he took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them. Mark10:13-16
The way we welcome children in church directly affects the way they respond to church, God and Christ. Let them know that they are at home in this time of praise and thanksgiving!
Relax! God put the wiggle in children—don’t feel you have to suppress it in God’s house.
Explain quietly the parts of the service and help your child find the pages in the Hymnal. Encourage them to sing the hymns, pray, and voice the responses with you. Children learn good behavior in church by copying yours.
Use a gentle touch: an arm around your child’s shoulder, your hand in his/hers to give reassurance and appropriate attention.
There are Children’s Tote Bags in the Narthex filled with items for them. They are there for them to enjoy when sitting still is difficult
We do have Safe-Sanctuary Certified nursery staff available for infants during Sunday School, and infants and preschoolers during worship in the Children’s Wing.
If you would be more comfortable during Sunday School without your infant, or in the Sanctuary without your infant or preschooler, an usher or greeter will be glad to direct you.

“Tell me, I’ll forget. Show me, I may remember. Involve me and I’ll understand.”

WHY CHILDREN IN WORSHIP
John Westerhoff, a leading Christian educator, believes that children are necessary in worship. Westerhoff believes that faith is “caught” not “taught” and what better way for children to know what faith is all about than to be a full part of a community.
When a child is baptized in our midst and made a member of Christ’s church, the adults of the congregation promise to be active in nurturing that child’s faith. We need to work together to support our children in their faith, and to be blessed by them in return. Children give us the gift of trust and a fresh point of view; adults can share the gift of acceptance, wisdom and the experience of living in God’s grace.
